It is our belief at Tsunami Day, Phuket that every child's efforts should be celebrated and rewarded and that it is their effort rather than 'perfect performances', religion or status that we should be praising/reinforcing in the children. It is our belief at Tsunami Day, Phuket that every child's efforts should be celebrated and rewarded and that it is their effort rather than 'perfect performances', religion or status that we should be praising/reinforcing in the children.
We believe that by highlighting a child's positives, and also enhancing their educational options in music and the arts, it will bring the best out in each child and in-turn will give children the opportunity to believe in themselves so that they ARE capable of succeeding in life no matter which path they take.
We believe that even though a standard education is still very important, if we can also enlighten the Children's minds to the ARTs and music this will give the Children a wider imagination and with it hopefully a blossoming future.
The Tsunami Day website and services offered simply tries to help and aid our affiliated Charities, Orphanages and schools to get the best exposure possible through the songs that we record, promote and advertise to International radio stations, newspapers, article directories, travel and music Bloggers and local businesses.
In-turn we then hope that companies and people around the world visit the site and will see, hear and read what we are doing, and hopefully donate. Giving the Children on Phuket a better chance in life by helping to fund and then enhance their education by offering them the tools they need to achieve what is normally looked upon as an unreachable goal.
TSUNAMI DAY SONG
The 'Tsunami Day' website was set up to showcase the 'Tsunami Day' songs (Thai and English versions) that were recorded in a Phuket recording studio in Thailand by 'Mark Hopkins' in 2013/2014, to bring awareness to local Charities and Orphanages and to also coincide with the 10th anniversary of the 2004 Tsunami that rocked Phuket, Thailand and Asia.
Mark wrote the 'Tsunami Day' song, and semi recorded it, while he was back in the UK in 2010. The song is about his own experiences while he was living in Patong when the Tsunami hit on Boxing day, 2004 .
I'M COMING HOME FOR CHRISTMAS:
In 2015 Mark wrote, composed a new song once again on Phuket, and then studio recorded it in 2016. The songs genre is an up-tempo rock n roll Christmas song using a female session vocalist as lead vocals. Mark's went back to his music roots with this song by adding a tiny touch of Punk to spice things up and leveled it off with a brass section.
Mark has lived outside of the UK for half his life so the song lyrics are basically about his own feelings about being home for Christmas, which he hasn’t managed to achieve many times during his many years living overseas. Maybe this year 🙂
